Mrs. Bennett Parents, Upcoming events: Monday, February 6th - Composition Journals needed Friday, February 10th - Half day, Dismissal at 12:00 Monday, February 20th - No school This week: The time has come to finally introduce our scholars to cursive! They are so excited! Practicing the correct cursive formations at home is critical in the progression of their confidence and clarity while using cursive, so please be extra diligent this week in not rushing through homework, but rather, solidifying handwriting skills. We will learn the lowercase cursive formations on Monday, therefore, there will not be any spelling words. However, there will still be cursive practice for homework. On Tuesday and Wednesday, only the first three spelling words of each day are to be written in cursive. We want to slowly introduce cursive, not overwhelm scholars. If you have any questions about the homework this week, please let me know. In math, we will begin to learn subtraction mental math strategies. An example: 362 - 293 = ______ We can take 300 from 362 and subtract 300-293=7. Then we can add 7+62 = 69. We will have a quiz on Friday. In history, we will continue to study the War of 1812. There will not be a quiz this week. In literature, we will finish Stuart Little. There will be a vocabulary word quiz and a final test over the whole book on Friday. Please let me know if you have any questions. Mrs. Bennett |
