It is officially May, the last month of school! We almost have third-graders on our hands! I still can't believe how much they've grown this year. Upcoming events: May 5th - Half Day and SPIRIT DAY (No lunch) May 9th - Spring Music Concert, King of Kings Church, starts at 5:30, second graders arrive at 5:00 May 12th - Arts Walk (Come see me! All teachers will be there!) May 15-19 - Teacher Appreciation May 25th - Last day of school This week: There will be 28 spelling words. Please remember to include the markings on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Markings are not required on Thursday. Please also continue to write all words in cursive. In math, we will be studying shapes and patterns. There will not be a quiz this week. In history, we will finish our immigration unit with a test on Wednesday and begin a science unit on the solar system. In literature, we will continue reading our favorite book, Charlotte's Web. We will read chapters 13-16. There will be a quiz on Thursday. Please let me know if you have any questions. Mrs. Bennett

In math we will continue to look at bar graphs and have a quiz on Wednesday. We will also learn about line plots. In History we will complete our unit on The Civil War. Please study all Civil War notes for a test on Wednesday. We will begin a short Science unit on Thursday about constellations. We will also begin Charlotte's Web on Wednesday. It's almost the middle of April! Where did the year go? In the last two months together, please let me know if there is anything I can do to help better prepare your child for third grade. Upcoming events: April 10th - The Cow - recitations begin April 13th - PSO Great Skate Fundraiser, 5:30-8:00 PM - Great Skate Glendale April 14th - No school May 9th - Spring Concert - 5:30 - King of Kings Church This week: There will only be 20 spelling words due to the short week. Please include the markings on Monday and Tuesday. Markings will not be required on Wednesday. Please remember to write all words in cursive. In math, we will finish our time unit with a test on Tuesday and begin looking at picture graphs on Wednesday and Thursday. In history, we will continue our study of the Civil War. Please remember that all words must be written in cursive and markings are required on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We will begin a math unit on Time this week. There will not be a quiz. Please ask your scholar about different times throughout the day to keep them practicing at home! We will begin a history unit on the Civil War. There will not be a quiz this week. We will read chapters 9-13 of Cricket in Times Square. Your scholar is welcome to take the book home to reread any chapters they want to, but please help him or her remember to bring back the book each day. This is the last week to practice the poem "The Cow" by Robert Louis Stevenson. Recitations will begin on Monday, April 10th.
