We are almost through our 1st semester of 2nd grade! We have a very busy week ahead! There have been a lot of tummy aches, sore throats, coughs and headaches. If your scholar is not feeling well and you need to keep them home this week, please email me and let me know. That way I can get you the missing work before the end of the quarter!
Upcoming Events: December 18-20: HALF DAY DISMISSAL-No Lunches December 21-January 5: Winter Break January 8-10: HALF DAY DISMISSAL-No Lunches January 11-12: FULL days Here is a look at this week! This week: Spalding- Your scholar will have 30 new words this week. Each night, your scholar will receive a piece of paper, in their red folder, with the 10 words that were studied in class that day. Please dictate the 10 words to your scholar 3 times in different orders. As your scholar writes the words, they need to also do the markings for each word. Please have your scholar write their words in their best Spalding handwriting. Markings need to be done on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday you should dictate all 30 words to your scholar. Markings are not required on Thursday. ****If your child is misspelling a word, please mark it wrong and have them correct it on their homework. Scholars need to study phonograms 1-70 every night. If your scholar can say all 70 phonogram sounds, please practice having them write their phonograms as you dictate to them. Math- We will be reviewing everything we have learned thus far in the school year. Review sheets will be coming home each night for homework. If you have not yet ordered the 2B workbook for math, we will need it when we return from winter break. Science- We will continue to learn about the digestive system. There is a quiz on Thursday! Look for an email and a letter to come home on Friday about the upcoming project week when we return from break. Literature- We will continue reading Little House in the Big Woods. There is not a quiz this week. Grammar- We will continue to learn about nouns, verbs, adverbs, and pronouns. There will be a grammar test on Friday! I hope you have a wonderful week! Please let me know if you have any questions! Mrs. Bennett
