Parents, Welcome back! I hope that you and your families had a relaxing winter break! Mine was busy but peaceful all at the same time! I'm happy to be back in the swing of things. This week is Project Week! Please look at the previous post on this blog, in your child's red folder, or your email for information regarding the 3D model that your child is required to build and bring into class on Friday, January 12. Upcoming Events: January 8-10: Half Day Dismissal-NO LUNCHES January 11-12: FULL DAYS January 15: MLK Jr. Day, No school January 17: Project Night - 6:00 - Attendance is mandatory. Here is a look at this week! Spalding- Due to most of our time being dedicated to our Project Week studies, your child will only have 15 new words this week. Please dictate the 5 words to your scholar 3 times in different orders each night. As your scholar writes the words, they need to also do the markings for each word. Please have your scholar write their words in their best Spalding handwriting. Markings need to be done on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday! Thursday you should dictate all 15 words to your scholar. Markings are not required on Thursday. The spelling and phonogram test will be on Friday. ****If your child is misspelling a word, please mark it wrong and have them correct it on their homework.****** *****Scholars need to study phonograms 1-70 every night. If your scholar can say all 70 phonogram sounds, please practice having them write their phonograms as you dictate to them.****** Math- We will begin a study of multiplying by 4s. Please practice skip counting by 4s with your child to support their efficiency in solving these problems. Science- We will continue to study the digestive system in even more depth throughout our Project Week studies. Please be sure to work with your child a little each night to build a 3D model of one of the parts of the Digestive System (mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine). Please be sure to send the Project Week folder back to school each day. You may use it at night to assist you in finding details to use for your child's model. Literature- We will begin reading Sarah Plain and Tall. This is a story that can be sad at times, but it shows the importance and desire for a true family. We will read the first 5 chapters this week. Please let me know if you have any questions. Mrs. Bennett
