April is flying by! The weather is warming up and I have noticed that the scholars are extremely thirsty. Please make sure to send in a water bottle everyday.
Wednesday, April 18- Book Fair Friday, April 20 - Half Day-SPIRIT WEAR DAY Monday, May 7 - 2nd Grade Music Concert Thursday, May 24 - Last Day of School This week: Spalding- Your scholar will have 31 new words this week. All spelling words are to be written in cursive each night. Please have your scholar write their words in their best Spalding cursive. Markings need to be done on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday you should dictate all 31 words to your scholar. Markings are not required on Thursday, but words must be written in cursive. ****If your child is misspelling a word, please mark it wrong and have them correct it on their homework. The words are becoming more challenging and I have encouraged the students to say the words in syllables, spell them on their fingers, then write the words when practicing at home. Please let me know if your child is struggling. Math- We will review on Monday and take the Unit Test on Time Tuesday. We will then begin our unit on graphs. Please continue to have your child practice looking at a clock and telling you the time! Also, just around the corner will be completing our end of the year tests. Please keep practicing those addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts. I have been using Lyceum time to review math and the students are dong a great job! History- We will continue to learn about Immigration, Ellis Island, the Statue of Liberty on Monday. On Tuesday we will continue to learn about newcomers to the United States and citizenship. The Immigration test will be on Wednesday. We will then start our unit on Civil Rights. Literature- We will finally begin Charlotte's Web! The students are so very excited to start this book! I am looking forward to the virtuous lessons that come through reading this wonderful story! I do ask that the students do not read ahead, but they are welcome to bring the book home to reread the pages we have covered in class. Please let me know if you have any questions! Have a wonderful week! Mrs. Bennett
