Dear Parents,
I cannot believe we are already headed into week seven. We have been busy in class building foundations for the coming quarters, and it is exciting to see the students catching on. Spalding is now a conversation they also bring up in writing. Making ten is now a conversation they have with word problems. It is an exciting time! Next week, we will have a quiz in math on word problems. I know that word problems can be a dreaded part of math for some students. It truly can be a difficult concept. However, we have been practicing every day how to form a number bond to help us decipher if we need to add or subtract. I hope my “cheat sheet” to you all was helpful. Please let me know if you have questions. In history, we have been studying many different rulers among Mesopotamia. We have been analyzing the type of king they each are and character traits to describe them based on in-class readings and socratic discussions. The students have also been using venn-diagrams to find similarities and differences between each. They truly do love when it is time for history! We will continue to read our literature book Charlotte’s Web. Each scholar is impressed with themselves and our class by how much we have already read. This was the perfect book for them to start the year with to build a love for reading. Please remember to attend the Peter Piper Pizza night on Monday, September 21st. It will be a great time for all that attend! Our Celebration and Unveiling of the Mascot will also be this coming Friday, September 25h. Mrs. Abram and I will be running a game and would love to see you there. Thank you for the continuous support you give your scholar in their education. It does not go unnoticed. I know dictating spelling words, reviewing phonograms, and studying poems can be tiring after a long day at work (and at school for the students), but the difference within the classroom is so very evident. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email me at [email protected]. I am looking forward to another great week!
